why so "BLUE"

Who knew being blue would mean looking so effortlessly fabulous?  It's the color that's all the rage right now:  electric blue!  It's bright, it's bold, and it's currently the color of fun.  From royal-hued denim to fingernails that pop, it's a shade everyone can pull off however little... or loud you choose to wear it!
It was in Los Angeles, while working an event, that I began to notice the bold blue frenzy.  Some folks chose to incorporate the crayon-box favorite into their outfit by choosing blue statement pieces such as jewelery, handbags, even shoes.  Others opted to go all out, taking to the red carpet in bright blue attire.
But even though you may not be hitting the red carpet anytime soon, you can still get in on the Smurf-shaded fashion right here at home!  I've chosen a few of my favorite "oh-so-blue" options for you to try this season.  Take a look........

Option 1:  Bright Blue Nails
*Choosing a fun hued color for your fingernails is a fun way to add a pop of the color to any outfit.  And it's also a subtle way to add a bit of fun without going overboard.  I love this "mesmerizing" shade from Essie. (color: "Mesmerize")

Option 2:  Shimmery Blue Accessories
*You can also choose to wear the color with a pretty accessory.  I'm loving this gorgeous blue handbag from Marshals by Kenneth Cole Reaction. ($39.99)

Option 3:  The New BLUE Jean
*Of all the new lines of colorful denim, bright "blue" jeans are my favorite!  As you can see here, they look great dressed up with preppy little flats and a blazer, or they (along with other colorful options) can be worn the casual way with a loose-fit "T".  (courtesy: Glamour Magazine)
And as you can see (above), I, of course, couldn't wait to snatch up my own pair of blue-hued jeans!  These blue-beauties have become a staple in my fall wardrobe... Papa Smurf would be proud.

Praying for Branden

This past week has brought about many different emotions in a short amount of time.  I received word that a precious little boy who I've know all his life has been diagnosed with a type of cancer.  The news literally sucked the life out of me and brought tears to my eyes.  I prayed and cried then prayed some more.  But it was the moment when I logged into my Facebook account that I was struck with a different type of emotion.  A smile spread across my face as tears streamed down my cheeks, and I sat there in astonishment.  Spanning the length of my computer screen was post after post:  prayer requests, words of hope and encouragement, and recently written "status updates" each dedicated to our sweet Branden.
Faith is a beautiful thing.  It's the part of you that makes all the hard times in life a little bit easier.  But it's a faith family-- those who come together and surround you in continuous thoughts and prayers and love, that make us realize we're not alone in life's heartaches.  In Christ, we are family.
I dedicate this blog post to this little boy who is my inspiration.  Branden has a heart for God and a personality that shines like the sun.  My heart is captivated by his unwavering faith and strength.  It is my prayer that God will hear the many other numerous prayers being sent up so fervently.
"Lord may you hold this child of Yours in Your mighty hands and bestow upon him complete healing.  Bring peace and comfort to the family, and may they remember You are with them every moment of each day.  Hear our prayers, Lord God, for we know You are the One who moves mountains.  In Your precious Son's Name, Amen."

LIFE...is good

LIFE.  It's a word that has come to my mind a lot over the past couple of months.  Questions like, "what do I want to do with my life?" and, "am I living the life God has planned for me?".  Then there's my favorite-- "don't waste your life, because you only get one chance to live out your dreams."  My life has taken a big jolt these past few weeks.  I decided it was time to take a leap of faith, "shoot for the stars" so to speak, and get out of my comfort zone.  After months of prayer and seeking God's will for my life by reading His Word, I threw my hands in the air, got in the passenger seat and let Him take the wheel.  And friends, I'm happy to say this roller coaster ride called life hasn't stopped since.
I embarked on a journey.  New York City is where I was headed, but I wouldn't be stopping there.  A door would open, I would take it.  I thought I had a plan, but what I have learned (and am still learning) is that God has an even bigger one.  Yeah, I made it to the Big Apple... then Washington D.C. and somehow Los Angeles, California.  Like I said, a roller coaster ride!  As I sit here and write this, I can't help but smile, laugh and shed tears all at the same time.  It's just-- God is SO good!  The Bible says, "Delight yourself in the Lord; And He will give you the desires of your heart."  My life has been transformed by this verse.  I think sometimes we get caught up in the thinking that if we delight ourselves in Him, He will give us what we want.  I have come to find that this way of thinking is anything but right.
As I said before, New York was where I was headed-- I have dreamed of living in the Concrete Jungle as long as I can remember.  I have talked about it so long, I'm pretty sure my mom is sick of hearing the words "New York City".  I remember seeing pictures of the Empire State building when in grade school, watching the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade EVERY year on television (yes, even now), and forever in awe of the hundreds of thousands of people lined along the streets of Times Square watching the Ball Drop on New Year's Eve.  I would say to myself, "I am going to be there one day."
I was 19 the first time I visited New York City.  I literally could not sleep the night before my flight, I was filled with such anticipation and excitement.  Let's just say the City lived up to all of my expectations.  I remember walking down the sidewalk that led to Times Square-- before stepping around the corner, I took a deep breath and closed my eyes-- then BOOM, there it was.  Needless to say, there were tears.  I'm 24 now, and since that first visit I have been hooked ever since.  But what I have come to learn over the years is if we trust in the Lord and seek to live our lives for Jesus Christ, His dreams for us are so much more than our dreams for ourselves.
So back to the verse Psalm 34:7, "Delight yourself in the Lord; And He will give you the desires of your heart"; I'd like to give my testimony in hopes you may too find that security in Christ.  Just when you think you have things all figured out... you may find that you don't.  When we try to run our own lives and make things go the way we want them to, we lose sight of the bigger things God has in store for us.  You've heard the saying, "everything in His timing,"-- it's so true.  I firmly believe if we pursue a life that is to bring Him glory, He will incorporate the things we love in our lives.  For instance, I love to travel.  So you can imagine my surprise when I was offered jobs in D.C. and LA!  And I'm happy to say I had the chance to share my testimony of what God has done in my life with people in both places.  If God hadn't opened those doors, I would have never met those people.  Glory to Him for that!  The point I'm trying to make-- at one time, all I had in mind was making it to NYC.  But just when I didn't think things were going to work out (finding a place to live-- yikes!), I took a step back and said "God it's Yours-- not in my timing but Yours, Lord"-- He moved.  I was supposed to be settled in NY the middle of September.  That was "the plan"-- MY plan.  But after working an unbelievable live concert in Central Park... boarding a train and heading to the nation's capital to work an event on the Ellipse Park (right in front of the White House-- so cool!)... flying home for my longtime best friend's wedding... and flying cross-country for my first visit and chance to work in (drum roll please...) Hollywood, California-- a month and a half has passed and thank goodness He is the driver and I'm in the passenger seat.  It's the beginning of November and I will soon be able to call the Concrete Jungle "where dreams are made of," home.  A lot has happened since "my plan" and I thank God for it.
I'm on a mission-- to live LIFE, no matter where I am or what I'm doing, for my Jesus.  Yes there will be days of stress and worry, heartache and pain-- and yes, our plans may be deterred in all different directions, but if we keep our eyes on Him, living each day to glorify Him-- no matter if you're sitting in an office behind a desk, serving a table at a restaurant, or walking the halls of your high school-- He will give you the desires of your heart... because our desire will ultimately be HIM.
     ....LIFE is good.

BOOKS a'million!

I'm not sure what it is about an old filled-to-the-brim bookstore, but I could spend hours upon hours in one.  I've always been drawn to the pages of a book.  True, reading is one of my many passions, but there's something that's just so... comforting about a book itself.   Time after time I have flipped through the pages of books new and old, breathing in the musty scent of the paper pages-- it's a smell I have come to know and love.  I've often said, if there was a job that would allow me to sit hours on end and do nothing but read, I'd be the "Michael Jordan" of the business.
A book can take you places you've never been; they have the ability to make you feel things you long to feel; they can bring a tear to your eye, a smile to your face, or resurface a memory you thought to have buried long ago.  A book can take you on a journey that may take you years to complete (Harry Potter anyone?), or take you to worlds unknown! (Tolkien's 'Middle Earth' is one of my favorite vacation destinations).
It was during my time in London however, that I fell in love with the bookstore.  I found it so exciting and fresh that everywhere I went I would spot someone, nose in a book, eyes scanning the pages before them.  Yes, I enjoyed reading before my time abroad, but it was during my time there that I caught what I like to call the bookstore fever.  I began "searching" for bookstores in the area, but wasn't surprised to find that I didn't have far to look.  It's safe to say I'm not the only one who noticed the passion folks in Britain have for books-- there's surely a bookstore for each of them!  Almost every corner I turned, there would be a little hole-in-the-wall bookshop.  And not just any bookshop-- books literally lined the walls of these places and stood in stacks floor to ceiling!  Take a look at this quaint little place I found in Brighton-- perfect name for it don't you think?  It "brightened" my day just going inside......

And this wonderful little place in Edinburgh, Scotland was truly one of my favorites.
As well as this one...................
So as you can imagine, I returned home and knew I would not be content until I found a shabby little shop (or two) to suppress my new favorite pastime. I was determined to find a place that I would love just as much as my stores abroad so... I set out on a mission.  Thankfully though, it was more of a short drive than a long and drawn out task.  The "Bookman/Bookwoman" book store in Nashville's Hillsboro Village was just what I was looking for....

"Bodacious Books" on White Bridge Road is another great little jam-packed book-shack.  Here's a peak inside...
On Saturday mornings, you can usually find me searching these shelves for my next great adventure. Every book you can possibly imagine can be found in these cozy places.  And another thing to keep in mind-- books here are normally cheaper than the same reads sold at big name bookstores.
Nowadays, I know many "high-techies" are opting for new reading devices like the popular "Kindle" and "Nook" readers, but to me nothing is better than the feel of an actual worn-and-torn book in my hand.
So for me I'll continue to flip through the pages, swooning over vampires ("Twilight"), crying over a soldier ("Dear John"), and going back in time to visit another era and way of life ("The Other Boleyn Girl").
What will your next journey be?  Pick a book and embark on one!
~ Happy reading everyone.

"this smoothie is bananas...B,A--N,A--N,A--S"!

I love a good smoothie for breakfast.  So when I found this recipe for the perfect nutritious and delicious banana-peanut butter concoction... I couldn't wait to try it (and share it with you)!  Now, as Doctor Oz warns us, we have to be careful when it comes to these slurpin' treats.  Because (A) when you think you're being "healthy", you may actually be consuming more calories than you do with a "Country Boy Breakfast" (complete with all the fixins: eggs, meat, biscuits and gravy) from Cracker Barrel, and (B) there may be enough sugar in the mix to land you in a diabetic coma.  So it's always a safe bet to fix your own: that way you can control which ingredients you use and how much you use of each.
Now let's get down to monkey business...  you'll need:
1 frozen banana <~100 calories>
2 tablespoons natural peanut butter (try Smucker's organic or natural options) <200 calories, 1 sugar>
1/2 tablespoon Agave nectar <30 calories, 8 sugars>
1/2 cup skim milk <45 calories, 6 sugars>
1 to 2 tablespoons wheat germ or flax-seed <30-60 calories, 0 sugars>
(makes 2 servings)
* Add ingredients, in order listed, to a blender.  Blend together and wah-lah... you have a filling breakfast in just minutes!  Remember, this recipe makes 2 servings which means one smoothie is approximately 200 calories.

I'm always looking for easy and delicious smoothie recipes... so leave a comment and share your favorites!

Get Coffee... Share A Verse... Make A Difference

My life has been a little hectic these past couple of weeks (you may have noticed considering my last post is going on 2 weeks old).  I've been doing many exciting things and making memories I'll cherish for a lifetime.  But in the mess of all the non-stop "going"... I think there are times where we (and I mean me, included) need to pause and take a moment to find time for someone else.  I'm sure Jesus Christ is busy listening to the billions of prayers headed His direction, but He always makes time and never fails to hear each one.  So I wanted to take a moment, share this special reminder with you all, and encourage you to join in!

Many of us will rush out the door tomorrow on our way to work, or the babysitters, or maybe even just to do some shopping.  And at some point during the day, most of us will stop by a drive-thru, whether it be for morning coffee, or our lunch break or even for an afternoon ice cream cone.  So I'm challenging you: in the rush of your busy day tomorrow, take time to make a difference in the life of someone else by joining Christian radio Way FM's "Drive-Thru Difference" movement.  Here's how it works....
  • PRINT out this note explaining why you did what you did in the drive-thru.
  • VISIT a local restaurant or coffee place (with a drive-thru)
  • ORDER your food/drink and then, when you pull around to the window, offer to...
  • PAY for the car behind you.
  • GIVE the drive-thru employee the note you printed out asking them to pass it along on your behalf.
  • THANK God you were given a chance to touch a life.
~ To find out more about this special outreach project,  click here.

One thing I like to do is add a favorite Bible verse to the note, such as John 3:16 or Philippians 4:13.  It's a personal touch that could open a door to God's word or bless the heart of a person in need of encouragement.   And who knows-- this simple act of kindness and love could impact someone and point them to Jesus.
So I challenge you-- take the time to let your light shine and make a difference!  Remember, every act of kindness really does make a difference in this big ole' world!

~ Share the faith everyone.

Fedoras.. and Feathers.. and Flowers.. oh my!

"Fedoras.. and feathers.. and flowers, oh my!  Fedoras.. and feathers.. and flowers oh my!"  Adding these three statement pieces to your summer wardrobe collection will have you skipping down the runway (or the sidewalk.. or the office halls) as joyfully as Dorothy skipped down the yellow-brick road. And although they do take a bit of confidence to pull off, they're pieces that really do look great on everyone-- yes, you too!
I love hats for summer!  They're so much fun to wear, serving as the perfect statement piece to an outfit, and the perfect fashion-savvy sun-protector (still, don't forget your sunscreen)... and who could forget-- the perfect cover up for those bad hair days!  But if your hat options begin and end with a traditional baseball cap (which I love by the way)... expand your options and try this one!  A fedora is the perfect fun, fashionable, budget-friendly choice!  I am loving this classic style.  In fact, during the past couple of years, I've managed to stock up on a wide-variety of these lovely darlings.

Wear one with shorts and a simple 'T', a plaid button up and jeans, or even a fun sundress (like I've done here)... either way, make this fashion-statement all your own.

Another must for this season-- feathers!  Whether it's feather earrings or a feathered headband, or for some of you risk-takers, feathers in your hair (shout out to Kelly N-- if you want some, go see her!), these bohemian-beauties are definitely stealing the spotlight this year.  And you can find fun and colorful options just about everywhere you shop.  But remember to keep it fairly tamed-down (because there's several exotic options you'll find out there).. and let's face it-- we can't all pull it off like Steven Tyler can. ; )

And finally-- flowers.  So classy and sweet, you'll be blossoming with beauty when you wear this gorgeous floral pattern.  Go for brightly-colored prints like this dress from 'Tulle'-- they're pretty and fresh.

So, as the Scarecrow would tell you, "use your brain and be smart-- add these three fun statements to your spring/summer wardrobe".  "And find the courage," as the Cowardly Lion would say, "to rock them with confidence!"  And lastly, the Tin Man would share with you this important reminder, "with a heart of gold, a great personality, and a big smile.. you're already well on your way to being the most fashionable you yet!

'RED' tan-lines, 'WHITE' dresses, AND 'BLUE'berries...

Happy Memorial Day everyone!  For most of you, it's the last day of what's been a long, luxurious 4-day weekend (hallelujah)-- the unofficial start to the summer season.  But most importantly, it's a day to remember the brave men and women who have given their lives for our freedom, and honor those who are still serving our great country.  Thank you to you all-- we are eternally grateful and blessed.

Now many of you will wrap up this holiday weekend, going to cookouts with family or spending the day by the pool with friends.  It's a day to relax, soak up the sunshine and embrace the beginning of what we know to be the long-awaited "vacation months".  So wherever you plan on spending this day, here are a few ways to make it even more enjoyable... what I like to call-- "red, white, and blue" chic
Whether you're spending the day at the lake or in the back yard.. don't forget the sunscreen!  We all know those tan lines aren't easy to cover up, and let's face it-- sunburn hurts!  Protect you skin and keep it looking young and fresh with a broad-spectrum option.  Because you'll need it if you plan on wearing what I like to call the perfect outfit for all those "RWB" holidays:  the little white dress.

It's the most casual, yet fashionable piece you can wear to a barbecue.. and can easily double as a cover up if you're needing something to slip over your bathing suit!  And best of all, you can find one that looks great on any body type.. because there's several style options out there-- just keep it classy and white.
Last on my list of Memorial Day favorites is an all-natural little treat that I look forward to every summer-- fresh blueberries.  Eat them on their own, on top of yogurt.. or if you're looking for a simple, yet beautiful red, white and blue dessert to share with the family:  try this one.  It makes for a gorgeous presentation, takes a matter of minutes to prepare and most importantly is a health-conscious option for the whole family.

Scoop a couple spoonfuls of your favorite vanilla ice cream (I love Blue Bell) into a goblet, add fresh blueberries and strawberries on top, and enjoy!  It's that simple-- and that delicious!
However you choose to spend this special day, enjoy yourself... say a prayer for those who are serving overseas... and be thankful to live in such a wonderful and free country.  A place where we have the freedom to choose what we do, the freedom to believe what we believe, the freedom to stand for what we believe in.  Red, white and blue.

'WOODstock'... Reinvented

Put this on your summer fashion checklist:  wooden heels, platforms, or wedges!  It's officially my new favorite look of the season-- a definite "must have" for any warm-weather wardrobe.  Why you may ask... well, here are a couple of reasons.. just to name a few.
This gorgeous clunky shoe works with a majority of your summer staples:  flowy blouses.. cute, chic dresses.. and even your perfect long, lightweight cardigan (for those over-cast days).  And secondly, the neutral shade of the wood elongates your legs.. which we all know helps our gams look super-fab!
So... if you're searching for a fun pair, here are a few options you might like.  Take a look.....

Option 1:  LC Lauren Conrad Victoria Platform Sandals

~Super cute, super chic, and super girly (and did I mention super-affordable?)!  Pair it with a floaty summer dress and you'll be looking oh-so gorgeous.  Love it!

Option 2: LC Lauren Conrad Zander Platform Sandals

~ This is definitely one my favorites!  Perfect with a pair of skinny jeans, a vintage 'T' or tank, and minimal jewelry (let the shoes be your statement piece).

Option 3: Jessica Simpson Keddar Sandals

~ Talk about 'walking tall'... I give these sky-high beauties a perfect 10!  Not only will they give the impression that your legs go on for miles... they'll also improve your posture, helping you stand and walk straight and upright (wonder why).

So now that you've got a starting place... go and stock up on this fashionable wooden trend!  I've started on mine... take a look at this affordable and super-fun pair I just purchased!

......................It's Woodstock... reinvented of course.

A Throwback To The Past: Pleated Skirts Make A Comeback

Vintage finds are delectable!  Especially when they just so happen to be coming "back into style"!  One of my favorites: the pleated skirt.  This way-back-when trend found it's way onto the fashion scene back in the 1920's and it's been evolving ever since.  True, the trend lost its appeal through the decades, disappearing for a while... that is, until renewed interest brought about its rebirth in the 60's.  But I'm happy to report that as of year 2011:  the pleated skirt is back.. and better than ever!  It's a look that echos "old time Hollywood", and it's a style you can make that's all your own.  Your best bet at finding one of these little beauties will probably be your grandmother's closet... or you could try a vintage store near you.  Other options include shops like "Forever 21" and "H&M".  Or there are several low-priced options you can find right here online.  Just search "pleated skirts" and then choose a few to pair with your best button-up blouse or classic blazer.  And don't forget to add your ruby-red lipstick and a loose, low chignon for an unforgettable look that's simply chic and unique.  So go out and make this throwback your comeback!

Oldies... but Goodies

One of my favorite things to do on a day off is going to an antique mall.  True, I do love all the old antiques...  but even more to my liking is all the vintage fashion pieces just waiting to be found!  These places are full of beautiful pins, broaches and other jewelry, even handbags.  And while some of the pieces can be relatively pricey... others are "top-dollar" (meaning a few bucks is all you'll pay),.. just keep looking!  It's definitely what I consider, my kind of scavenger hunt!
For instance, there's an adorable little antique store in my hometown.  This place is full of old nick-knacks for your home, as well as-- you guessed it.. your wardrobe!

Their slogan reads, "it's the place you go, to find the things you never knew you needed."  And I'll be first to tell you how true that statement is!  Every time I go in to browse, I never leave empty handed.  Take a look at some of the fantastic things I've found there....

These are a FEW of my favorite finds.  A classic black and gold cuff, a fantastic blue-band with white face watch, and an old antique "lizard" pin.  I've always been a big fan of cuffs and this one really stuck out to me.  It's heavy-duty and not at all tarnished.  A definite beauty.  And believe it or not, I paid around $3 dollars for it!  As for the watch-- how can you NOT love that gorgeous face?  I assumed I'd have to have a new battery put in it, but am delighted to say that it's still ticking right along.  Price tag = $5.  And as for the pin, it's my absolute favorite.  I have a love for all things vintage, and vintage pins are my weakness.  For those of you who are wondering "why" right about now, here's the answer....

Gorgeous, right?  OK, so maybe you're not a big fan of lizards, but a pin of any sort adds just the right amount of drama to an outfit.  Add one to a scarf, like I did here.. for a hint of old English-glam.  It's high-fashion meets utter simplicity.  Did I mention, I bought this little guy for only $8 bucks?
Now, to my greatest find yet... on a recent trip to the antique mall, I was doing a little browsing when I glimpsed this beautiful leather thing laying on an old antique bench.  I've always been drawn to old Indian-leather, so I practically sprinted over hoping to get my hands on it first (not that there was anyone else around).  I wasn't even exactly sure what it was at first, but then I opened it.. and my eyes lit up like I had just found the greatest treasure....

OK.. so you're wondering what so great about this leather "case" right??  Drum-roll please..........

To my surprise, this super-fab brown case turned out to be a clutch!  And a hippie-chic one at that!  The pocket on the left opens wide to hold your cash.  There's also a pocket on the right and as well as...

two adorable little inserts that fit securely down inside the clutch: one for you license and another for other important cards.  I absolutely adore this clutch and if you're wondering how much it cost me... the answer to that question would be, "less than a whole Andrew Jackson"...  $18!
It just goes to show, you never know what great things you can find if you don't mind to do a little searching.  It's been said "what goes around, comes around," and that couldn't be more true than when it comes to fashion.  Platform wedges, bell-bottom jeans, English hats, bright red lipstick... all staples of decades past.. are returning to runways all over the world.
So remember-- never ever underestimate someone else's "oldies"... because you might have just found the soon-to-be latest and greatest fashion piece to make its way onto the scene of next season's Fashion Week!

"Good Friday" Everyone...

This was the view on my way home today.  And I couldn't help but smile and think about what a good Friday this actually is. Then, His name began to roll off my lips: JESUS.  My eyes filled with tears, a smile spread across my face, and my heart filled with emotions too numerous to list.  JESUS... the One who was, and is, and is yet to come!  JESUS... Savior, Redeemer, Son of the utmost High God!  JESUS... the man who lived and died for you and for me... who suffered the cross and paid my debt to raise this life up from the dead!  JESUS... who has risen!
So today, on this Good Friday-- give thanks to the One who is coming again-- for you and for me, and to make all things new.  For it is only by Him that we are saved.  "Jesus paid it all, all to Him i owe;...my sin had left a crimson stain... He washed it white as snow."

~Good Friday, everyone.

Oh The Things You Can Find... If You Know Where To Go

If you live close to Nashville, you are in luck.  There's so many great, little unique places to visit-- and shop!  If you know where to look, you can find practically anything you're searching for-- at a great price.  So let's start with one of my favorite little Nash-zones... Hillsboro Village in the west end.  If you've been there before, you know how just fun and laid-back the area is.  It gives off a retro-cool vibe, that's undeniably hip-chic.  Each time I venture down to the Village.. I feel like I'm back on the streets of London.  Or even in New York City's, Greenwich Village.  So artsy, so classy, so free.  There's clothing boutiques, 'coolest-of-cool' coffee shops and eateries-- (Fido anyone?), the famous "Pancake Pantry" (gives the Country Music Hall of Fame a run for its money in tourist's eyes), and what I consider to be one of the most perfect little book stores man ever established --(more on that in a later post).
Just this past week, a friend (hi Jess) and I journeyed down to the Village for a day of browsing.  Our first stop, of course, was the great little boutique called "Pangaea".

This place has all sorts of amazing items.  Clothing, jewelry, vintage-flare pillows, China-print wallpaper, cutesy notebooks/tablets, hats, headbands, fierce/shabby-chic nic-knacks-- you name it!  And all of it, reasonably priced.  For example, I was there to browse-- not to spend oodles of money.  So, I scammed the racks to see what I could find.  I had already decided I wanted to stay around $30... (seemed like a safe price range-- I figured I'd leave empty-handed).  And if there's one thing I love when it comes to shopping, it's buying something new-- but the one thing I love even more is finding a great deal!  So to my delight, you can imagine how excited I was to find the perfect little spring/summer dress-- that had my name written all over it!  And best of all-- this little beauty fell right near my price range-- $31.  Now I do have to confess I spent a tad extra on accessories, but once you see how they "make" the outfit-- you'll understand why.  After all, it's the finishing touches that make an outfit "your own".  Take a look at mine....

I love the 'vintage-vibe' the dress gives off, with its neutral colors and lace trim.  But there's something classically girly about it too.  I paired it with a silver/gray beaded belt complete with wooden buckle.  The gray belt brings out the gray design, while the brown buckle keeps the overall neutral shade of the dress balanced.  Here's a closer look...

And to add a personal touch, I chose to pair it with a fun stone cuff.  I was so happy when I found this one-- because it matched perfectly!

I felt pretty accomplished-- a fashion-savvy 3-piece outfit for around $60-- I call that a bargain!  In fact, I felt so content with my purchase at Pangaea... I could have called it a day----- BUT, since I was in Hillsboro Village, I knew I had to make a pit-stop in one more adorable boutique---"Fire Finch".

If you love fashion-forward pieces, perfect for a dinner-date-- better yet.. that could be rocked on any runway, this place is for you.  It's impossible for a female-- of any age-- to walk by this store without taking a second-glance before racing through the door.  Inside you'll find all kinds of delicate pieces.. including clothing/jewelry/ and handbags.  And it's nearly impossible to not find something that will catch your eye.  Case in point-- one glance at these beautiful earrings, and I knew I could not go on without them.  You'll see why-------

Believe it or not, this picture doesn't really do them justice.  These little balls glisten most beautifully when light hits the crystallized features.  And the bold color is extraordinary!  Pair them with a simple black dress, and they're all the color your outfit will need.  Most gorgeous, don't you think?

I could go on and on about Hillsboro Village, but to truly understand just how great it is, you must experience it for yourself.  So if you're searching for the perfect place to spend a Saturday with your girlfriends-- or just to have some laid-back time by yourself, this is the place for you.  Because if you know where to look.. not only are your wardrobe possibilities going to be endless.. but so is the huge smile that's going to be on your face once you go.

"Coat Your Kisser" With This Gorgeous Gloss/ Balm/Color/Sun Protector

I am a chap-stick addict.  I'm one of those people who just can't seem to apply enough of the stuff.  It goes on my lips each morning before I head out the door, at least twice while I'm in the car, and a dozen times during the work day... I seriously love chap-stick--that much.  Of course, it could be the fact that it keeps my lips moisturized and wind-burn free!
So no matter if I'm wearing traditional lip stick or lip stain.. even lip gloss-- it doesn't go on my lips without a serious base coat of chap-stick underneath.  You may or may not be like me when it comes to this.  For years, I've searched for a lip balm that possessed the qualities of chap-stick... along with a hint of color. But every balm, gloss, or stain I tried seemed to leave my lips feeling dried out... forcing me to turn to my old friend "the chappy stick" to rescue me from lip peril. So I continued my quest-- until NOW.  Because ladies, I am happy to say that I have finally found a lip balm that meets my high-criteria!

<Insert excited face here>... Introducing "CoverGirl NatureLuxe" gloss balm.  Not only does it give your lips a glossy feel,.. there's a variety of colors for you to choose from-- and listen up:  it will matter which one you choose-- because it's color that you can actually see.  I'm sure you've all thought you were buying a balm for the beautiful color.. just to find out that when you applied it to your lips-- you couldn't actually see the color at all!  Well friends, I'm here to tell you, with this stuff you can see it!
And if that wasn't great enough-- this gloss balm also has SPF 15.. which means you'll be protecting your lips from the harmful sun rays while you're looking fabulous.
And for a reasonable price of around $7 bucks.. you can afford to stock up on a few colors, so you'll look great no matter what look you're going for!  Two of my favorites are "coral"-- for the more natural, beachy look.... and "muscat"-- which has a deeper mauve tint that suits a more dramatic look and pairs perfectly with a neutral smokey eye.
I'm telling you-- you're absolutely going to love this stuff.  But I'll warn you-- your chap-stick may not, considering it'll probably find itself in hibernation-mode for the rest of the summer.

Fashionable Finds That'll Have You Looking Oh-So "Trendy" This Spring....

I love spring.  The flowers start to bloom, the sun stays up longer, and it warms up just enough outside, that you can bring out the flip-flops from their winter hibernation.  Then comes Easter.. and spring cleaning.. then spring shopping!!  And don't you agree-- finding that perfect little spring dress happens to always brighten your day?
If so, you're going to love this!  Because I've found some "trendy" spring fashion finds that's sure to have you smiling from ear to ear.  This year, it's all about color!  Bright pinks, purples, and turquoises are filling close racks like spring flowers filling flower beds.  And when it comes to dresses... there's several great options for ladies of every shape and size.  You'll find ones that are long and flowy, short yet classy, and strapless/chic.
One of my favorite little boutiques where you'll find this season's most gorgeous looks is Trendy Pieces in Murfreesboro, TN.  They have all sorts of fun jewelry, hats and shoes.. as well as unique tops, dresses and ever-popular "Miss Me" brand jeans.  And I can tell you first-hand, every time I journey into the store.. I never leave empty handed.
In fact, just this week I was watching the Today Show's style segment, and to my delight they featured a fabulous pair of silver "leaf" earrings, perfect for any spring outfit!  I'm sure you're thinking.. "OK, so what Casey...." Well, it turns out I had just found those very same earrings at where else-- Trendy Pieces!  See for yourself...

They're a tad bigger than I'm used to, but they actually look beautiful when you're wearing them.  And they're very lightweight-- on your ears-- and on your wallet!  Because ladies.. you can get this gorgeous pair of "Today Show-approved" earrings for only $10 bucks!  Talk about a great fashion-find!

Now, moving on to some of my favorite spring pieces.  As I was saying, this season it's all about color.  Well Trendy has some fantastic colorful options, that are perfect for women of all ages.  Let's take a look into their spring wardrobe, shall we....

This lightweight green jacket is perfect for those breezy spring days.  And the creme colored top coincides perfectly with the dark jeans.  No matter if you wear this outfit to the office or to a luncheon with the girls... you're going to be looking fiercely chic!

Searching for the ultimate spring top.... look no further!  Take a look at this beautiful vintage-lace vest.  It's definitely on my list of favorites for the season. Perfect worn over a simple camisole or tank.. it's a look that's whispers utter simplicity and screams Victorian beauty.

Bring out the peace signs and headbands because the classic-hippie vibe is making its way back into the hearts of fashion-lovers everywhere.  I felt this off-white top was a little too short to wear as a dress, so I decided to throw some jeggings (gotta love em') underneath.  Add some chunky beads, long gold earrings, and a braided headband and you'll be the perfect Earth-loving nature queen.

As you know, Easter is just a few weeks away.. so I've also got a look at some gorgeous dresses that Trendy Pieces has to offer....

Talk about a fun option-- this dress (yes, it's all one piece!) is one of the cutest I've seen in a while. Throw on some flip-flops and you're ready for class or a day in Panama City.  You also have the option of adding a brown leather belt to the waist which would dress it up just enough to make it wearable with a pair of strappy heels.

OK, so you might be under the impression that I have a love for the so-called "boho" look--- well you would be 100% correct in your assumptions!  Talk about the perfect bohemian dress-- this is it.  Kate Hudson would be proud.

Easter dress anyone??  If  you don't already know.. lavender is the go-to Easter color.  And I absolutely l-o-v-e lavender!  Something about it radiates beauty-----> see what I mean (above).

And last but certainly not least--- the "please wear me to an outside wedding" dress!  So girly and so cute.. this is THE dress to wear to all those spring weddings you'll be attending this year.  And don't you just adore the pink and brown--- so classy...

So I think you could say, I've made my point.  All of the gorgeous options you've seen above can be found at Trendy Pieces in Murfreesboro.  To check out some of their other spring-time looks, and to receive (awesome) coupons-- be sure to "Like" them on Facebook.  And I promise-- when you go, you're going to be so glad you did. Because once you do, I guarantee you're going to be looking fashionably "trendy" this spring!

   ~Happy shopping everyone!
